Quarterly draw rules

1. Who runs the draw

The draw is run by JournalsbyKarl, the guided journal brand of Dr. Karl Palma ("we"). You can reach us through our contact form, mentioning JournalsbyKarl.

2. Free to enter

Entry is free and no purchase is needed. To enter, take the journal quiz, give your first name, email address and country, and tick the box to enter the draw. Buying a journal does not improve your chances.

3. One entry per person

Each email address can hold one entry. Taking the quiz again with the same email address shows you a new result and renews your entry, but never adds a second one. Entering more than once, for example with several email addresses, is not allowed.

4. Who can enter

Anyone aged 18 or over, in any country where this kind of free draw is allowed by local law. Under-18s may enter with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these rules on their behalf and would receive the prize for them.

5. When the draws take place

There is one draw each quarter, on the last business day (Monday to Friday) of March, June, September and December. Entries received by 11:59 pm UTC on a draw date go into that draw; later entries go into the next one.

Your entry stays in every draw for 12 months after you last took the quiz, as long as you remain subscribed. Take the quiz again at any time to renew it for another 12 months. If you unsubscribe, you leave the draw.

6. How the winner is chosen

One winner is picked at random by computer, using a secure random number generator, from all eligible entries. We keep a record of each draw: the date, the number of entries, the winner and who ran it.

7. The prize

One journal of the winner's choice from our current collection, in the Complete Edition (or the only edition, for titles that come in one). We post it free of charge. There is no cash alternative. Any import duties or taxes charged in the winner's country are the winner's responsibility.

8. Telling the winner

We email the winner after the draw. The winner must reply within 14 days to claim the prize and give a postal address. If we do not hear back within 14 days, the prize is forfeited and we draw a new winner from the same entries. With the winner's permission, we may share their first name and country on Instagram.

9. One prize per person every 12 months

A winner is not included in the draws for the 12 months after they win. Only one prize goes to the same person or the same postal address in any 12 months: if a winner shares a name or postal address with a winner from the last 12 months, we draw a new winner.

10. Everything else

We may change, pause or end the draw if we have to, and will post any change on this page. We may remove entries that are fake, automated or break these rules.
